A tummy tuck – also commonly called abdominoplasty – is a procedure when the excess skin and fat is removed from the abdomen. At the same time the connective tissue in the abdomen is tightened with sutures creating an ‘inner corset’.
There are various reasons why the belly area looses it’s skin elasticity or improves a weakened connective tissue. However, the most common factor is pregnancy. It is very popular to combine the tummy tuck with a breast lift – called a Mommy Makeover procedure.
What to expect from the Tummy Tuck?
The first days after the procedure might be a little bit painful, however you will receive a pain killing medication to offer a relief. Dr Gence might place small drains if necessary. You will be encouraged to make a small walk as early as the first day after the procedure to help prevent the formation of the clots.
You will be given a supportive abdominal garment that you will need to wear for at least 6 weeks.
You will have a horizontal scar a bit wider than the the scar of the C section. The scar can be easily hidden under the underwear. It becomes less visible with time because the redness of the scar will disappear with time and it will get a natural skin color.
What is the cost of Tummy Tuck?
First of all, Dr Gence would like to see you at the consultation. If it is not possible, you can send us your pictures from the front and side while leaning. After the examination we will be able to give you more details of the procedure.
